The Steps Required to Restore a Smile with a Dental Bridge

Posted .

Are you excited but also nervous to replace your missing tooth with a dental bridge? If so, Dr. Joseph Kayne will do his very best to provide the best treatment possible. To help you feel comfortable and confident during your appointment, our dental team is happy to give you the details of the treatment so you know exactly what to expect while you’re restoring your smile.

When you sit in our dental chair, Dr. Kayne will numb the mouth with a local anesthetic. This will help you avoid having any pain during your appointment. Next, he will prepare the teeth that will anchor the bridge in place. Your dentist will do so by trimming or removing the enamel. This will make room for the anchoring crowns that hold the bridge in place.

When you and your teeth are ready, your dentist will make impressions, which are imprints of the trimmed teeth and your smile. Then, he will send them to a dental lab where the technicians will custom-make your new restoration. While you wait for your bridge to be created, your dentist will place two temporary crowns over the anchoring teeth in your mouth so you can use them between appointments.

You will come back to Rock Canyon Dental for your second appointment when your bridge is ready. During this visit, Dr. Kayne will place the bridge after checking its size, fit, and appearance. If it’s exactly what you need, he will cement it into place.
